My Story

I never felt like I belonged in the system. Here's what I did about it.

The Before

I grew up in Queenstown, New Zealand.

Beautiful place to grow up. Terrible place to figure out what you actually want from life. Because in Queenstown, like everywhere else, the path is already laid out for you before you're old enough to question it.

School. Trade. Job. Mortgage. Repeat.

So that's what I did.

I left school at 15, had a son at 17 and went into construction, transport and earthworks. Drove trucks. Operated machinery. Showed up every day and traded my time for a wage like everyone around me was doing.

And I was good at it.

But I hated it.

Not the physical work. Not the early mornings. Not the dirt and the noise and the long days.

I hated that it wasn't mine.

Every hour I worked made someone else's business bigger. Every skill I developed built someone else's asset. Every morning I showed up I was one day further into a life I never consciously chose.

I just couldn't get out.

Not because I wasn't capable.

Because I didn't know what I was getting out for.

The Attempts

So I tried things.

A lot of things.

Business after business. Idea after idea. Each one launched with genuine energy and abandoned when the passion ran out, which it always did. Because I was chasing income not purpose. Trying to escape construction without knowing what I was running toward.

The pattern was always the same.

Start something. Work hard. Realise I don't actually care about it. Close it down. Go back to the digger.

It took me years to understand that the problem wasn't the businesses.

The problem was I hadn't found the thing I was genuinely built for yet.

The River

In my late twenties something shifted.

I found gold mining.

Not as a business at first. As an escape.

Weekends on the river. Early mornings before anyone else was up. A hobby that slowly became an obsession without me fully realising it was happening.

There's something about standing in a Central Otago river at minus eight degrees with a machine screaming in your ear and your hands going numb, something that strips everything unnecessary away and leaves you with just the work and your thoughts.

I fell in love with it immediately.

Not because of the gold.

Because it was mine.

My claim. My equipment. My decision where to dig and when to stop. My reward if I worked the ground right and my empty pan if I didn't.

For four years I did it alongside everything else. The construction work. The businesses that didn't pan out. The search for something that felt right.

And then this year, I made the decision to go full time.

To back myself completely.

To trade the guaranteed wage for the uncertain river and see what happened.

It was the best decision I've ever made.

The Bitcoin Rabbit Hole

In my early thirties I discovered Bitcoin.

And everything clicked.

I'd been vaguely aware of it for years the way most people are, something on the internet, probably a scam, something for tech people and speculators.

Then one day I actually looked into it.

Really looked.

I read about the 21 million cap. About proof of work. About what inflation actually is and who it benefits. About the history of sound money and why every fiat currency in history has eventually gone to zero.

And I felt something I hadn't felt since I first stood in a gold bearing river.

Recognition.

Bitcoin is gold for the digital age. Scarce by design. Outside the system by design. Resistant to government manipulation by design.

Everything I instinctively valued about gold, scarcity, proof of work, no counterparty risk, Bitcoin had perfected for the modern world.

I went down the rabbit hole hard.

Self custody. Cold storage. The Austrian economics rabbit hole. The history of money. The Cantillon effect. Why the system is designed to make the people closest to the money printer rich and everyone else slowly poorer.

I set up my Coldcard. Connected my Sparrow wallet. And started buying Bitcoin every single day.

Not because I'm certain about the price.

Because I'm more certain about Bitcoin than anything a bank has ever told me.

Day one of my 500 day daily purchase series.

I haven't missed a day since.

The Family

Through all of this, the construction years, the failed businesses, the river, the Bitcoin rabbit hole, there has been one constant.

My wife and three kids.

They are not the reason I want freedom.

They are the reason I cannot accept anything less.

Watching my kids grow up I started asking questions I couldn't stop asking.

What am I actually preparing them for? A system that was broken before they were born? Thirteen years of sitting in classrooms memorising things designed for an industrial economy that no longer exists?

My eldest son had no choice, my younger two do!

My kids don't need more school.

They need the world.

They need to handle foreign currency in countries that use it. To learn history by standing in it. To understand ecosystems by living in them. To know what real work looks like because they've watched their father do it every single day.

We took them to their first homeschooling meetup recently.

It was held at an old gold mining centre in our town.

I stood there watching them explore a place where generations of men worked the same ground I work today. No bell. No permission slip. No worksheet to fill in.

Just kids in a real place learning real things.

And I thought, this is it. This is exactly what we've been working toward.

We're world schooling our family within the next 18 months.

Not as a holiday.

As a life.

Where I Am Now

I'm 32 years old.

I have a wife who backs me completely, three kids who make every hard day worth it, and a gold dredging operation in one of the most beautiful places on earth.

I have a Bitcoin stack I add to every single day without exception.

And I'm building an online business, documenting this journey, sharing what I know about gold, Bitcoin, and sovereignty, and creating the geographical flexibility that means my family can be anywhere in the world and still have income coming in.

That last part is the key.

Not just financial freedom. Geographical freedom.

The ability to world school my kids across Southeast Asia and Europe. To wake up in Lisbon or Chiang Mai or Central Otago and have the same income regardless of which one it is.

That's what the online business is for. That's what this website is building toward.

I also have a pet business I'm winding down, a mortgage I'm navigating, and a bank that won't touch me.

I'm not telling you the finished version of this story.

I'm telling you the version that's happening right now.

In real time.

With real stakes.

Because the most valuable thing I can offer anyone is not a highlight reel of what's already been achieved.

It's an honest documentation of what it actually looks like to build something real when you have a family depending on you and no guarantee it works.

What I Believe

Gold and Bitcoin are the only honest money.
Everything else is someone else's debt.

Freedom is a decision not a destination.
You don't arrive at it. You choose it. Every single morning.

Children learn from the world not about it.
The best classroom has no walls and no bell.

The system was never designed for people like us to win.
Which means the only winning move is to build something outside it.

Proof of work is the only honest measure of value.
Whether it's gold from a riverbed or Bitcoin from a blockchain.

The Next 18 Months

This website is the documented proof of what happens next.

The gold mining. The Bitcoin treasury building. The world schooling. The messy financial reality of building a sovereign life with a family depending on you.

No filter. No polish. No highlight reel.

Just a man working the ground.

And trusting that patience and stubbornness eventually get rewarded.

They always do.
